Weird git error message in Fork

Since some recent update (I think before last, I'm currently on 2.21.0), recurrently I see error messages in Fork like the following.

What does it mean? What can I do to fix it?
These messages pop up multiple times a day referring to different, mostly deleted origin branches.

Current git instance: 2.50.1.windows.1
Also tested 2.54.vfs.0.5 with the same outcome.
The activity manager seems to contain no errors.

This is an internal assert. I think at the time, we don't need it anymore. We will remove it in the next update.

Any idea why I hit this assert, but others don't?

Interesting question.

First of all, I need to clarify that validation happens with a rand(0, 5) == 0 chance. Usually it happens on focus or after a branch modification operation (fetch, push).

1. Do other users also use 2.21.0?
2. Does this problem happen in any repos or in a particular repo only?
3. Do other users work on the same repo?
4. Try to run git gc and try to work for some time. Does this change the behavior?
