The sequence in dropdown menus appears to be in order of xml loading, note VEF 1x1 coming in last:
(This happens independently of Better Architect Menu. Some other mods happen to have structures in odd sizing order in their xml, which shouldn't ordinarily matter so long as uiOrder is set correctly, but causes this oddity in this mod. VEF is just an easy example case.)
However, with Basic Dropdown off, <uiOrder> is represented appropriately:
Not sure how workable this is, but seems a bit of an oddity for what's otherwise quite an excellent mod ^^
