Git pushing and committing issue

I have tried recommitting and pushing in both my main directory and MiniProject1 directory in terminal.

It appears that your MiniProject1 does not have a .git directory. See if the directory ~/MiniProject1/.git exists. if it does not, then it is not a git repository and you will need to do a git clone. Make sure you save your eswanger.ipynb file first.
