ascii is no longer available on CRAN

ascii has been archived away from CRAN on Jan, 26, 2018. A cursory look at the isues shows that there is at least a later version not yett submitted to CRAN.

Do you plan to fix this package and re-submit to CRAN ?

One issue with CRAN re-submission is that the cacheSweave package dependency has been archived on CRAN -- which itself depends on the stashR package which has also been archived. Both of these packages seem to have been abandoned by their author @rdpeng, although I have sent in two pull requests (rdpeng/cachesweave#7, rdpeng/stashr#1).

If @eusebe is not interested in updating the ascii package, then I could remove the cacheSweave dependency from a fork and submit a revised version to CRAN. Would that be helpful?

Thank you for your message. I don't have the time anymore to maintain this package, I am really sorry for that. If you need it, or know some people who use it, please feel free to update the package.

I have made some updates to the package at https://github.com/mclements/ascii and submitted the package to CRAN. The main changes were: (a) removal of the cacheSweave functionality, as multiple dependencies had been archived on CRAN; and (b) sought and received permission from @seth to include weaver code within the package, which simplifies the dependencies.
