Most often, coding is not the hardest part, but to build up an environment, where you can actually code.

  • install Visual Studio Code
  • use the terminal
  • install extensions like Vim mode, Containers, Git lens, SQL Tools etc.
  • debug scripts using the VS launcher
  • knowing and circumventing the PAW (Privileged Admin Workstation) restrictions on Windows machines
  • connect your project with gitlab.ethz.ch
  • how to deal with secrets
  • how to use Code Pilot meaningfully
