Automatic configuration for Claude Desktop App

Currently I am using Claude Desktop App(because sadly we cannot use it directly from Netbeans :( ), and for now there are no auto configuration for Claude Desktop.

I hope there will be auto configuration for Claude Desktop App like in IntelliJ MCP

I do not use the Claude Desktop App and surprisingly it seems to be almost entirely separate from Claude Code CLI.

From some quick searches I see it oddly does not support remote websocket MCP servers, only SSE/HTTP/stdio.

I suspect you could use a bridge like https://github.com/chromecide/claude-desktop-transport-bridge and edit claude_desktop_config.json (located at ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/ on macOS, %APPDATA%\Claude\ on Windows, or ~/.config/Claude/ on Linux) like:

where the DETECTED_PORT is the port the plugin runs websocket on (visible in the NetBeans tooltip). After editing, restart Claude Desktop.

In theory the Claude Code NetBeans Plugin could do the editing automatically though it still depends on users having npx which is not always the case.

Please test this if possible and let me know if it works. If the basic pattern works we could perhaps provide a statically built bridge (or even a Java-based one to avoid the Node.js dependency).

I try using claude-desktop-transport-bridge, but there are some problem, i cannot run directly with npx because there a problem with build script(no chmod in Windows), so I modify and install it in my Windows,

this is my config :

Can you not escape your username? (My\ Name may work: 'C:\\Users\\My\ Name\\AppData\\Roaming\\npm\\claude-bridge.cmd',)

I see Windows also uses ^ so maybe My^ Name is the way to go.

Alternatively you could just put this script in a folder outside your whitespace homefolder. Can't you use D:\ or even an USB drive to execute stuff?

The main idea is to confirm if this bridge works with the plugin. If it does then we know the problem is just having a better bridge.

path problem is fixed now, but it still failed

Thanks for looking into this. It looks like the bridge is not so good. I think there's a subprotocol change and the bridge does not know it.

I theory I think I can also add some SSE / HTTP channel but it's a bit of work.
