ContentIllegalInProlog Error when opening a *.product file

Currently when opening a *.product file with the default editor, an ContentIllegalInProlog error occurs.

However, when we deactivate the LemMinX language server for XML, the error disappears.

This is not an xml file. This is a simple a.product file containig the text foo

Similar.
The problem described there: VSCode associates the .config extension to xml by default.
The problem described here: Eclipse associates the .product extension to xml by default.

Ok it is a problem with Eclipse. I suggest that you report your issue in wildwebdeveloper.

@tamasmiklossy the problem comes from Eclipse IDE which associates *.product to XML file:

Unfortunately you cannot remove this association. It is not a problem with lemminx but a problem with Eclipse IDE which doesn't provide the capability to override this file association.

I suggest that you report this issue to Eclipse Platform.

The .product is an XML document in PDE and registered since 2008 as XML. From PDE perspective there is nothing we should change. I just checked, unfortunately the content type annotation has no way to restrict it to a plug-in project but even that woudl most likely noth help, as your example lives in a plug-in project, I think.

@tamasmiklossy I suggest you use a different file extension. It is a bit like using .java for your own file type, that would also not be a good idea.
