Go and Dart have had optimization passes on their FFI implementations. Rust has also gotten some compiler improvements that may impact this. A fresh update of the benchmark is due.

With Go 1.21 and Zig 0.12.x (WIP):

$  ./zig_hello 1000000

$ ./hello_go 1000000

The numbers are a lot lower than the original due to my specs, but if I set the loop to 200000000 (200x the original) to get similar results on the Zig side:

Go 1.21:
7598

So it seems that Go's FFI is now 5x faster than it used to be in 2020.

@gabstv do you think you could run with the original Go version used to verify the difference (expecting you to get the 35000 for Go as in the original test)?
