It appears that regardless of the requested number of rows, the entire frame is being stored in rs@env$resultset.

To be clear, the superficial behavior (with or without looking at rs@env$resultset) behaves as expected:
dbFetch(rs, n=10) |> nrow()
# [1] 10
dbFetch(rs, n=10) |> nrow()
# [1] 10
dbFetch(rs, n=10) |> nrow()
# [1] 10
dbFetch(rs, n=10) |> nrow()
# [1] 2
If there are no bound parameters, the resultset is saved in rs@env$resultset immediately; if there is a parameter (e.g., "select * from mt where cyl=?"), then the whole data is loaded with the call to dbBind(). Neither path requires calling dbFetch().
This seems wrong for two reasons:
dbSendQuery() and dbBind() should never retrieve the result.
duckdb is touted as a way to work with larger-than-memory data, but this problem negates that possibility.
Allegedly (I have not verified), the python client does not do this.
