During user testing, several participants did not notice the bottom navigation menu. ( Mobile Web App )
One user expected navigation functions to be located at the top of the screen or inside the burger menu. As a result, they focused on the header area and overlooked the bottom navigation. This led to difficulties discovering sections such as Map, News, and Events.
Describe Your Preferred Solution
- Improve the visibility and contrast of the bottom navigation.
- Increase the visual prominence of active and inactive navigation items.
- Replace information and news icons
Describe Possible Alternatives
As an alternative, an app tour or onboarding flow could be useful for first-time users and improve discoverability of the bottom navigation.
