For certain use classes (C1, C2, C2A), applicants must provide room details:

Application templates specify an 'Unknown' option for:

• In 'floorspace-details': 'floorspace-lost' and 'total-gross-proposed'
• In 'room-details': for 'existing-rooms-lost' and 'total-rooms-proposed'

that is specific to the two 'Outline planning permission' types.

@colmjude - as discussed recently suggest including a new field for Unit Type in the Room Details sections. This would then align with the GLA 'Other Residential Accommodation' on the Planning Portal forms and should enable Back-Office providers to populate this data in the same location whether in the GLA area or outside. The GLA use this data to then provide Starts and Completion data to MHCLG every year so is critical this isn't lost and would be useful for others too.

Our GLA Unit Type values are as follows:
Hostel Room
Hotel Room
Apart-Hotel Room
Secure Residential Room
Residential Care Home Room
Student Accommodation

Note we also discussed the possibility of capturing other unit types such as prison cells, hospital beds etc. This isn't something we specifically need but might be useful elsewhere
