Evaluating Edge Cases

Write down a step-by-step way to go about keeping the edge cases and their pertinent information.

After the tracks have been merged, the merged track has a flag that is changed to true to mark that it has been merged. The code only sends tracks where this flag is marked as false. So for our edge case, what I think I could do is

1. Create a counter to see if a track is not merged. i.e.
   std::vector<int> mergeCount(numStublist,0);
...
mergeCount[preftrk] += 1;

2. When the code sends tracks to the output, I'll have it evaluate the tracks that also have been marked true for merging. First, I'll check if that track had other tracks merged into it i.e. if (mergeCount[itrk] < 1) continue;

3. If mergeCount[itrk] > 1, I'll go back into the dupMap and see what tracks it was compared to, and output those into a vector compTrack.

4. Then, I'll compare the rinv bins of each compared track
   for (ktrk = 0; ktrk < compTrack.size()-1; ktrk++)
for (mtrk = ktrk + 1; mtrk < compTrack.size(); mtrk++)
   if the rinv of any two tracks are in two separate bins, then we send itrk to the output.

If mergeCount[itrk] > 1, I'll go back into the dupMap and see what tracks it was compared to, and output those into a vector compTrack.

Can you clarify -- does mergeCount increment if a track is merged into another track, or if it has a track merged into it, or both?

mergeCount would increment a track if another track is merged into it.

is itrk only looping on rejected tracks?

It's looping over all tracks, but this chunk of code will only look at the rejected tracks.

so even if it only has one track (ktrk) merged into it, it should pass, provided that the track to which itrk was first merged to (htrk) is in a different rinv bin from ktrk, right?
