Now that we've got a momentum going we should have a plan to move this code to drupal.org repos or decide how we want to move forward with it. Relevant issue on d.o. - https://www.drupal.org/node/1726822 (Port Profile2 to D8 and provide upgrade path from D7 core profile). I think these should be 2 separate issues.
