Can't find valve actuators in HALocal

Thanks again for making a great HA plugin for Omnilogic.

My Omnilogic is programmed to trigger two valve actuators: one that flips the return water to come FROM either the pool or spa into the pump, and another actuator that flips the clean water to go TO either the pool or spa.

With the Omnilogic mobile app, the installers configured the valve actuators to be in default "pool" mode (pulling water FROM and returning water TO the pool) unless I have selected a specific "Spa theme" which flips the two valve actuators and increases the heater target temperature.

I've been unable to find these two valve actuators in the "entities" list exposed by haomnilogic-local, and am wondering if I am missing something about the plugin's configuration or use that would make these available to me.

My goal is to replace the Omnilogic "themes" with HomeAssistant themes so I can just use HomeAssistant for interacting with my Omnilogic.

Some notes about my OmniLogic programming that may help you while parsing the XML:

• When all themes are unselected, the default for the equipment is "Pool Mode" where the two valve actuators are in position to route the incoming water from the pool, and the outgoing water to the pool.
• I have 8 themes programmed. When any of these 8 themes are activated, the two valve actuators rotate so that incoming water comes from the spa, and outgoing water goes to the spa. The differences in the 8 themes are colours, temperatures, and jets, but all of the themes trigger the valves to switch into "spa mode"
• When the active theme is turned off, everything goes back into "pool mode" so the valve actuators rotate back to the default "pool" state

Because these valve actuators aren't currently exposed in HomeAssistant, and because there is no way to enable/disable OmniLogic themes within HomeAssistant, there is no way to switch between pool and spa modes with HomeAssistant. Your integration works great for changing lights, temperatures, and jets but it cannot currently turn the spa on/off.

So you only have one actual pump right?

Looking through your MSPConfig, lets use your "SummerSpa" theme as an example. It looks like it does the following:

• Turns off a relay named Walkway (I'm guessing this controls some lights)
• Turns off the FilterPump for the Pool
• Configures some settings for the Pool heater
• Turns off Super Chlorination for the Pool
• Turns off the Pool lights
• Sets the FilterPump for the Spa to 100%
• Configures some settings for the Spa heater
• Turns off Super Chlorination for the Spa
• Sets up the light for the Spa
• Turns off(?) the Spa Jets Pump (I think I'm reading that config right... I would have expected it to turn on as part of activating the theme, but I guess you have some for just chilling with no jets?)

So this isn't set up like a typical pool/spa combo that supports spillover (which I can also see that spillover is not supported in the config). Upside, this means that your one physical Filter Pump is actually what Hayward refers to as "Shared Equipment". Your Pool has SHARED_EQUIPMENT_LOW_PRIORITY and your Spa has SHARED_EQUIPMENT_HIGH_PRIORITY. This means that if the filter pump for the pool and the filter pump for the Spa are both turned on, the Spa wins.

So in Home Assistant, you should see switches for two Filter Pumps, one under the Pool and the other under the Spa. These switches both control the same physical Filter Pump, but the Omnilogic will look at which is turned on and use that to direct the pump to one or the other.

You should be able to disable all of your themes and then see the Filter Pump under the Pool device turn on and the Filter Pump under the Spa device turn off. Then if you activate one of your Spa themes, you should see them both switch the next time the integration polls the controller.

If you see them responding to the themes like that, then you should also be able to use those switches to control where the water goes. Pool Filter Pump On and it should go to the Pool, Spa Filter Pump On and it should go to the Spa, Have them both on, and if I'm understanding the config correctly, and it should go to the Spa (I'm unsure if the Omnilogic will automatically turn off the Pool Filter Pump switch if you turn the Spa one on... it might).

After you read that giant wall of text, let me know how things go and if you are able to get the water to route back and forth.

P.S.: It looks like you don't have freeze protect enabled for anything but the spa jets... hope you either live somewhere warm or winterize well ;)

Thanks for taking a look! I've read what you wrote, and it sounds like you didn't find what I was hoping you'd find: the ability to control the 2x Jandy valve diverters: https://www.jandy.ca/en-ca/products/pool-valves/diverter-valves/neverlube

First, some small details for what you did find:

• There are two physical pumps. One is the "Filter Pump" that pumps water through the filter+heater, and you're right: it is shared equipment. The other pump is for the spa jets. The "SummerSpa" theme leaves the spa jets off so it looks like you deciphered that right
• "Walkway" is a heated walkway that melts snow, but that doesn't matter here.
• You're correct that within HA the "spa" and "pool" both have filter pumps and heaters, and they both refer to the same shared equipment
• Yes, the "SummerSpa" theme flips the Jandy diverters to the spa but does not turn on the spa jets.

I see your suggestion for watching the filter pump within the "spa" and "pool" devices when I change themes. I'll do some tests to see how they update, and investigate how it behaves when both devices' filters are on.

I was expecting the Jandy diverters to show up as relay switches or something, but it sounds like they didn't (unless that is what is happening in your "Configures some settings for the pool heater" bullets above). But if controlling these 2 filter pump devices flips the Jandy diverters then this is just as good.

As for your P.S.: 1. what is "spillover"? and 2: the spa heater is on all winter and prevents it from freezing. I'm not sure what "freeze protect" is and how it differs from how the heater already protects it from freezing.

The way shared equipment works in the omnilogic for a filter pump that controls two separate bodies of water, you don't actually see or directly control the valve actuators that change it from one to the other. Instead you see a filter pump for the two separate bodies of water (despite their only actually being one real filter pump), and the controller toggles the valve actuators depending on which one of those filter pumps you turn on.

If the filter pump for the pool is on then it will change the valves to direct water to and from the pool and turn on the pump. If you turn on the filter pump for the spa it will change the valve actuators to direct water to and from the spa and then turn on the pump. So with a shared equipment set up like yours you don't actually directly control the valve actuators, the controller configures them depending on which body of water you are running the pump for.

Spillover is when you take water from a pool and deliver it to a spa and then the spa literally overflows and spills over into the pool, your pool isn't configured for that so I'm guessing that you have no way currently to run your pool like that, and your pool was likely not designed for that either (so there is no spillway from the spa to the pool).

Freeze protect is when you have the controller automatically turn certain things on when the temperature gets below a certain threshold to keep things from freezing in the pipes. An example of this is when it gets below around 38° for me, the controller automatically turns on the pump and all of the water features so there is no still water in any of the pipes. If you have your heater running all winter in the spa, that does basically the same thing, it keeps the water moving and above freezing temperature.
