character encoding

Hi,

I’m trying this app, and it looks promising.

However, I’m using Central European Windows-1250 character encoding, and Searchmonkey doesn’t seem to handle it correctly.

For example:

• Searching for “Problémy” returns “No matches found”.
• Searching for “Probl” returns two empty matches, and the Preview shows question marks instead of characters outside the English alphabet.

Is there a way to configure Searchmonkey to properly search and display Windows-1250 encoded text?

Hey,

Yes - this is a common problem. Searchmonkey does use "Auto detection" to try an guess the charactor mapping but it won't always get it right.

I'll see what I can do with this - but it might be that we need to add some kind of user setting, or drop-down to override the auto-selection...

Can you send me a copy of the document that you are having trouble with so that I can put forward a fix?
