love the direction you’re taking with the UI polish — especially the RAG search interface.
one thing to keep an eye on though (seen it bite a lot of systems):
semantic highlighting doesn’t always mean semantic accuracy.

a lot of pipelines "highlight" a sentence just because it's in the same chunk or has high cosine match — but that doesn’t mean the reasoning is actually correct.
the result looks clean, but under the hood it’s often what we classify as Problem No.1 or No.2 — semantic boundary drift or interpretation collapse.

we’ve done a lot of forensic debugging around this pattern (open source, MIT licensed, tesseract.js author helped vet it).

just one critical heads-up: this is exactly where we’ve seen Problem No.1 and No.2 sneak in, especially after UI polish.

Problem No.1 – Semantic Boundary Drift:
the system highlights a chunk that looks relevant, but the true semantic boundary is off. Reasoning jumps tracks silently.

Problem No.2 – Interpretation Collapse:
different meanings collapse into one just because of surface similarity — often worse after highlighting or shared-term emphasis.

these are silent failures — model returns a confident answer, user trusts it, but it’s semantically wrong.
we've traced these across dozens of production pipelines, and ended up documenting all of them in an open-source diagnostic map

Problem No.1 (Semantic Boundary Drift) tends to sneak in right when the UI “feels” cleanest — because users rely on chunk previews, and that’s exactly where partial matches mislead.

Problem No.2 (Interpretation Collapse) often worsens with shared-term emphasis: same noun across different intents, compressed into one answer.

by the way, based on what you described — it really aligns with Problem No.6: Logic Collapse & Recovery in our framework. the surface alignment issue you hit sounds like a boundary mismatch (usually at prompt or reranker level), and the delayed collapse downstream is a classic entropy sink effect.
