How to make autogrow stop when menu bar reaches top of window.

I would like the TinyMCE editor to behave like CKEditor 5 such that autogrow only grows until the editor menu bar reaches the top of the window.

Can this be done with a setting change?

What sort of setting? Backdrop admin UI?

You can enable and disable the autoresize behavior on admin/config/content/tinymce-builder/YOUR_PROFILE/edit - with a checkbox.

Tiny allows more fine granular tweaks as documented here

No, there won't be any admin UI settings for all the whistles and bells... 😉 If your favourite tweak isn't there, I can't add it. But you could play with some CSS tweaks.

I was looking at a simliar situation. I think my problem was a bit of confusion about how autogrow works and it's impact. It's easy enough to resize the body field window, which eliminates the need for autogrow. See my comments here for more about my situation.

@stpaultim there are two more interesting settings re that:

• toolbar_sticky
• toolbar_sticky_offset

I belief, whatever one needs or wants - this editor has a setting to adapt it. 😁 TinyMCE provides loads of settings.

Also worth pointing out (which I also mentioned in the forum post) that there is the full screen button which will keep the toolbar and the top and IMHO be the best experience for long text.

As @indigoxela pointed out, you can edit the json config file to add more settings that TinyMCE supports. For example, if you want a "sticky" toolbar (which I do), edit the json for your profile of choice and add this:

@swampopus Thank you for the details. Yes it does work with the Basis theme, but it does not work with some themes, e.g. it does not work with https://github.com/backdrop-contrib/corporate_kiss although it is possible there are other things at play since I have not tested it with a fresh install.

Okay, let me take back my previous comment. It does work with the corporate_kiss theme my problem was because sticky_nav module was also being used, duh!

This answers my question about the Tinymce module. It works as expected. Although, I would prefer to see this added to the profiles by default but that is just my opinion.

I know @indigoxela said in the second comment that they don't want to build any settings in the Backdrop UI, but even still I'd love for a future goal to be to add the ability to "turn on" sticky toolbar as something that's in the UI, not to mention all the other various settings available.

Someone could theoretically create a module that simply uses hook_form_alter to add in that option, then implement a form..._submit() handler and modify tinymce's settings file. But it does feel like overkill.

If someone creates a module, why not implementing hook_tinymce_options_alter()? That's what the hook is for. 😉
