Remote Control: "Shared directories" context menu does not work

I'm using aMule 3.0.1.

In Remote Control → Preferences → Directories, the text says:

"Right click on folder icons to share them recursively."

However, the shared directories list does not react to right-click at all.

It is impossible to add or configure recursive shared directories from the Remote Control interface.

The only workaround is editing shareddir.dat manually.

Is this expected behaviour, or is the Remote Control GUI missing this functionality?

aMuleGUI does not fully support directory sharing through the UI preferences panel (is your daemon localhost or remote?).

Anyway, the right way to do this: edit the shareddir-recursive.dat file in the remote daemon (amuled) configuration directory.

On a localhost connection this works for me (just tested on macOS), so a few details would help narrow down your case:

1. OS and version you're running amuleGUI on?
2. Is amuleGUI connected to a localhost daemon or a remote one? Over a remote connection the tree is intentionally empty — the GUI can't browse the daemon host's filesystem, so there's nothing to right-click (that's the case my earlier note covers).
3. Does the directory tree show any folders at all, or is it completely empty?

If it's a remote connection, the empty tree is expected — edit shareddir-recursive.dat as above, then trigger a rescan (Shared Files → Reload, or reload shared via amulecmd) to pick up the change without restarting the daemon. If it's localhost and the tree is populated but right-click does nothing, that's a separate bug and I'll dig into it.

My setup is:

aMuleGUI 3.0.1 running on Windows 11
Connected to a remote amuled running inside a Docker container on a QNAP NAS

So this is a remote connection, not localhost.

In my case the directory tree is empty, so there is nothing to right-click. That explains why the context menu never appeared.

Following your recommendation, I switched to using shareddir-recursive.dat on the remote daemon and then reloaded the shared files with:

reload shared

using amulecmd.

After testing it with a large media library, recursive sharing works correctly, so my original issue is resolved.

I think the only confusing part is the text in the Remote Control preferences:

"Right click on folder icons to share them recursively."

On a remote connection there are no folder icons available, so it initially looks like the feature is broken. Perhaps it would help to mention in the documentation or in the UI that this only applies to localhost connections, and that remote users should configure shareddir-recursive.dat on the server instead.
