[BUG] Left Command key triggers voice detection despite Option Right being configured

Describe the bug

The left Command key (Cmd) systematically activates voice detection/dictation, even though it is not configured in the settings.

My default shortcut for speech detection is set to Option Right. However, pressing the Left Command key triggers the speech recognition as well.

This completely breaks normal workflow on macOS. Since the Command key is essential for basic OS and application shortcuts (Cmd + C, Cmd + V, Cmd + Z, Cmd + Tab, Cmd + W, etc.), every single standard system shortcut inadvertently launches the dictation feature.

Because of this, the app is currently unusable for daily work.

Reproduction steps

1. Open Fluid Voice settings and ensure the shortcut trigger is set to Option Right (or any key other than Left Command).
2. Press the Left Command key on the keyboard (or use any shortcut involving it, like Cmd + C).
3. Observe that voice detection/speech recognition is triggered.

Expected behavior

Only the shortcut configured in the settings (Option Right) should trigger voice detection. The Left Command key should be completely ignored by Fluid Voice unless explicitly mapped.

I’m experiencing the same issue.

Environment:

• FluidVoice 1.6.5, build 16
• macOS 26.5.2, build 25F84
• External Bluetooth keyboard

My Primary Dictation shortcut is displayed as Right Control, but pressing Command activates dictation. It also activates while using ordinary shortcuts such as Command-C and Command–Shift–4.

I restored the macOS keyboard shortcuts and modifier mappings to their defaults, but the problem persists.

I inspected FluidVoice’s preferences and found what may be relevant:

• PromptModeShortcutEnabled is false
• SecondaryPromptShortcutRemoved is true
• DictationPromptConfigurations.__default__.shortcut still contains:
  • keyCode: 55
  • modifierKeyCodes: [55]
• macOS key code 55 corresponds to Command
• PrimaryDictationShortcuts contains a different key code

It looks like a hidden/default prompt shortcut may remain registered even though the prompt shortcut is disabled or removed.

I have a screenshot showing Right Control as the configured shortcut and can provide additional sanitized preference details if helpful.

I confirmed the UI is saving the new visible shortcut, but it is not clearing the hidden shortcut.

After changing Primary Dictation to Left Option and deleting Right Control:

• PrimaryDictationShortcuts changed to key code 58 (Left Option)
• DictationPromptConfigurations.__default__.shortcut remained key code 62 (Right Control)
• PromptModeShortcutEnabled remained false
• SecondaryPromptShortcutRemoved remained true

Right Control still activates dictation. FluidVoice appears to register the hidden default shortcut despite its disabled/removed state.

Confirming the same bug on 1.6.5 (build 16), macOS 26.5.2, Apple Silicon.

My visible Primary Dictation Shortcut is Right Option (keyCode 61), but Command was triggering dictation on every Cmd+shortcut.

This matches @conrad-parker's diagnosis exactly. Inspecting ~/Library/Preferences/com.FluidApp.app.plist on my machine:

So it's exactly as described: a stale DictationPromptConfigurations.__default__.shortcut with keyCode 55 (Command) is still registered as a live global modifier-only hotkey, even though PromptModeShortcutEnabled is false and SecondaryPromptShortcutRemoved/LegacySecondaryPromptShortcutRetired are both true. Nothing in Settings exposes or clears this key.

Workaround that fixed it for me: fully quit FluidVoice, then run:

defaults delete com.FluidApp.app DictationPromptConfigurations

...and relaunch. The Command-key triggering stopped immediately, PrimaryDictationShortcuts (Right Option) was untouched, and the key was not regenerated on relaunch.

Might be a good permanent fix: on launch, if SecondaryPromptShortcutRemoved/LegacySecondaryPromptShortcutRetired is true, also clear/ignore DictationPromptConfigurations.*.shortcut so the orphaned hotkey monitor doesn't get registered.
