custom-image AEMaaCS assets inop

Originally starting with the custom UE extension from the customer, I started a new version but it is not working as expected.
Although an AEMaaCS dam asset can be selected, it is a 404 because it is using AEM 6.5 URL.

africa-sowing-seeds-of-change-780x439-v2.jpg:1 GET https://author-worldbank-b75-stage-comm.adobecqms.net/content/dam/1001/2001/3001/image/demo/agriculture/africa-sowing-seeds-of-change-780x439-v2.jpg 404 (Not Found)

which then gives a CSP blocked error on the network tab.
