Hi. As I feel this is the best place to add comments. I tried to address our last conversation on call last week around the
suggested small changes to the wording in about document. In particular change “Source” to “capability origination” - only title change to match more the description . And to broadern the non source methods beyond that of just edge, as we have in the abstract.
So it would now read:
This document explores specific capabilities critical to web content accessibility that can be applied across various parts of the web delivery ecosystem, not limited to any single point of origin. It seeks to address several pertinent questions about these capabilities:
• Capability Origination: What is the role of the content author or developer in providing these accessibility capabilities and ensuring their effectiveness?
• Trade-offs: Does activating a particular capability replicate functions found elsewhere in our technological stack? In instances of redundancy, we evaluate if these should be streamlined or eliminated.
• Benefits: What are the potential advantages of implementing these accessibility features throughout the web delivery process?
• Interconnected Aspects: We highlight capabilities that have synergistic relationships or could benefit from the development of normative cross-platform specifications.
By focusing on a broad spectrum of technologies and methods—including overlay technologies, browser extensions, plugins, and more—this approach aims to foster a more inclusive and accessible web environment. As with any technology, emphasis is placed on thoughtful design and robust implementation to ensure a positive user experience.
This revision aims to capture the essence of enhancing accessibility across the web delivery ecosystem without limiting the discussion to edge technologies, thereby broadening the scope to include a wider range of tools and methods. The section previously titled “Source” has been renamed to “Capability Origination” to reduce confusion and more accurately reflect the content.
