Should we add this diagram to the WhyDRS site?

Originally was going to make this a discussion, but this repo doesn't currently have it enabled. I really love the diagram below as seen in this document here (shoutout to @JFWooten4 !). It really captures the complexity of non-DRS stock ownership and I think it's a great complement to the diagram from Computershare that's shown here.

It would make a lot of sense for us to have page that displays the complication of the current system and how there's so much happening under the surface most never consider.

To add onto this, maybe this diagram can be redrawn and color-coded to be easier to look at/understand. Even better, I'd love an animation that follows the life of a share going through this system and eventually ending up in DRS.

In a recent conversation, it was relied upon that brokers were the market-access amplifiers rather than a symptom of this much larger problem. I agree it could really help to explain to everyone just how inefficient the "stock market" system they think they can access actually works on the backend. I tried doing this with the routing fees here, but they've generally been abstracted away as exchange-mandated fees like we need these businesses to transact.

All this to say – great idea, James! It could be a lot worse. They put this one out in an unsafe broker practices study (last page) in 1971 before FAST but after "automated" records:

As for the substance of answering the issue title, I think this would best live on the DUNA site. I could imagine a blog post about discussing its implications. Then there would be a stable image ref from the post alongside something niche for SEO indexing.
