App permissions not working

I installed the app on lineage OS 23.2, and the app is not requesting the correct permissions, and the permissions in the app settings are grayed out. It gives me a pop up saying it needs storage permissions, but not requesting them from the system.

What version did you get?

I was able to fix it myself with root using app manager (https://github.com/MuntashirAkon/AppManager), but I figured you should know about it for non rooted android 16 users sake.

Device is the Google Pixel Fold if that helps.

Just installed it for the first time and it Pops Up a Toast that permissions are needed, but none are requested.
