This may or may not be part of the intended design of FT8
standard HOUND mode. I.e. I don't know if it is a bug. It isn't
serious though. WSJT-X 3.0.1-GA. Discovery on 5/17/26. This
HOUND mode testing was done on 20m when no FOX was operating.
With HOUND deselected I can at any time click on any TX-side
call in the Band Activity window and it will set up the Generate
Std Msgs table ready to QSO with him. But immediately (a few
seconds) after HOUND mode is enabled, depending on the timing
(odd or even cycle), such clicks are ignored. A few seconds
later another click will do the setup normally. I have been
unable to find time in the past 48 hours to continue testing for
any correlation with odd or even timing shown in Band Activity.
My initial assumption (could be wrong) that initializing HOUND
mode establishes some kind of lockout during that immediate even
cycle.
Hardware for these trials: Using TS590SG with direct USB.
Software: Windows 10 laptop, 22H2, without use of accessory
software apps like logging software, JTalert, HRD, OmniRig, etc.
