Recently I have used the Webinar feature in Teams to setup an online event which requires a sign-up. This was because I wanted to share the event far and wide but didnt want loads of randomers showing up in the meeting.
Draw backs of Webinar are that only those running Teams desktop app (ie Windows and Mac users) can use the feature.
