I’m wondering whether Alt Controller could be used to operate a Commodore 64 (C64) by sending input from TD-Control or another virtual/on‑screen keyboard. The C64 obviously uses a completely different operating system and hardware interface compared to a PC, but if there were any way to bridge these systems, it would be extremely valuable.
For many users, the C64 still holds significant personal meaning even decades later. I’m sure there are people within the Alt Controller community and among users who rely on accessible computer control, who would benefit greatly from being able to operate a C64 through modern assistive input tools.
Is there any technical path for this? For example:
- Could Alt Controller output be routed through an emulator?
- Could it interface with hardware adapters that convert PC input to C64 keyboard signals?
- Is there any existing support for mapping virtual keyboard events to legacy systems like the C64?
A new Commodore 64 Ultimate has now been released.
