im giving their mechanics a design pass as well. i dont think i want cheek storage really, i never saw anyone using it, it wasnt unique, and it wasnt particularly interesting anyway - basically worse version of slime storage. what im considering instead:

• rummaging for loot; in addition to disposal chutes and toilers, they can also rummage through the slots on vending machines. maybe air vents? lmao? would that be fun??
• "gnawing" - allows them to do wirecutter interactions without wirecutters. still need insulation to not shock yourself
• naturally detritivores; derive hunger from gastrotoxin, mold, and processed trash
• they get hungrier 33% faster. on prebase both vulps and tajaran have higher hunger rate but i dont think i want this on rebase, so this will be an actually kinda unique trait of rodentia
• always activate mouse traps and glass shards even when wearing shoes
• take more brute and shock damage. the overall numbers will be less severe than they are now, but...
• they also have a lower crit and death threshold - 90 to crit, 180 to die
• fit in duffelbags wyci

The idea of rummaging in vending machines and vents to get free stuff out is a neat gimmick I could see people actually using for the flavor a lot, and especially if it lets them find forgotten stuff in empty vends.

sounds were always soemthing i wanted to be expanded for rodentia because the mouse squeak grates on me sometimes, but nobody ever did volunteer to add any on the serre they were originally made for. so this is lovely! thank you!
