Not obvious what's wrong on Firefox for Android.
Observed that other webextensions that attempt to override the new tab using "chrome_url_overrides" API also did not work on my Android devices.
However the compatibility page lists "chrome_url_overrides"
as supported on Firefox for Android 54.0 and above.
