Old httpcore module crashes frogmouth in 3.14.0rc1

When opening frogmouth(0.9.2) with Python 3.14.0rc1, I get the following traceback:

AttributeError: 'typing.Union' object has no attribute '__module__' and no __dict__ for setting new attributes. Did you mean: '__reduce__'?

Frogmouth is currently using httpx version 0.24.1. which depends on an older httpcore version 0.17.3.

This AttributeError is fixed in httpcore version 1.0.8.

The latest version of httpx 0.28.1 includes httpcore version 1.0.9.

While we wait for PR #124 to be merged, could there be a workaround similar to #112 (comment) where we brew edit frogmouth?

A workaround in case you used pipx to install frogmouth:

# inject the dependency with a more recent version:
$ pipx inject frogmouth httpx=="0.28.1" --force
  injected package httpx into venv frogmouth
done! ✨ 🌟 ✨

# Check that the correct version is in the pipx virtualenv:
$ cat ~/.local/share/pipx/venvs/frogmouth/lib64/python3.14/site-packages/httpx/__version__.py 
__title__ = "httpx"
__description__ = "A next generation HTTP client, for Python 3."
__version__ = "0.28.1"

@kevinbowen777 @huyz @hugovk @markuszoeller I've fixed this issue in my fork of the project since it looks like this project has been abandoned. Let me know if there are any other issues.

Confirming this on macOS, Python 3.14.3, frogmouth 0.9.2 (pipx install) — identical traceback.

Workaround that fixed it without waiting for a frogmouth release: upgrade httpx/httpcore in place, ignoring frogmouth's httpx<0.25.0 pin (pip warns about the
conflict but installs fine, and frogmouth works correctly at runtime with the newer versions):

pipx runpip frogmouth install -U httpx httpcore

That pulled in httpcore 1.0.9 / httpx 0.28.1, and frogmouth launches and renders files normally again. As noted above, the real fix is bumping the httpx pin in
pyproject.toml since the crash is in old httpcore's typing.Union introspection, not anything httpx-specific.
