Cannot exit application without opening a valid bibite file

If I launch, and cancel the open-file dialog, I'm greeted with an error and then the open-fille dialog opens again, and if I cancel, etc. etc. ad infinium until what would probably be an out of memory or number of levels of recursion exception.
