I just think pictures are fun ^_^

Today I implemented position and scale. Vertices are not in yet, and everything is a box. Rotations also not in yet. This is what FloorPlan1 (AI2THOR) looks like:

I had been using just the X position for all three coordinates. Fixing that changes things up a bit:

Looks a bit more logical now. I think the bit slap in front is the floor (needs to be rotated, obviously).

Super janky rotation code led to this:

It's totally wrong, but it's fun to look at. I'm rotating the entire root group, which I thought would rotate all of the children correctly, but it looks more like all of the children are rotating around their own axes.

Turns out that you have to enable the depth buffer explicitly when you wish to correctly render 3d scenes. It's less cool-looking now, but the rotation works!

Fixed rotation code. Everything seems relatively the same for this particular scene, although the starting position appears to be different:

I got the conversion from vertices to a convex hull to triangles in JFX working! Here's a demo cube:

And now we have TriangleMeshes from the vertices specified in SGEL!

Working on showing the axes and for some reason it causes all of the scene objects to show as black (which is what the back face of polygons look like):

Just a little experiment: you can copy a geometry in place and set the draw mode to LINE to give this high-contrast effect, which I think is ideal for what we are doing:

The grid lines have lights attached to them, and JavaFX detects that the light exists but not that they are limited in scope to particular objects, removing its default lighting in the entire scene. This is a pain in the neck. What's worse, I can't figure out what the default lighting was. Copilot tells me it's not accessible and even that it might not be an accessible lighting implementation at all.

So I looked at svs_viewer's OpenGL settings and tried to imitate them, but couldn't come up with the same thing. I find this low-contrast and difficult to see:
