Getting "relative position" through lap

Hi, absolutely love this package!

My current use case is I put the live feed in the top 3/4ths of the screen, and have 7 quarter size onboards around the outside. I then poll the live timing to decide when to swap streams around (focus on certain drivers, otherwise shop the top 7, reposition screens to have them be in order).

This is great for the race, but in qualifying I'd like the onboards of those currently closest to finishing a hotlap. The closest thing I can see to a "fraction of lap completed" metric is the x/y position for the track map, but that would require some funky per-track math to unwrap it in to a fraction. Is there some better metric I'm missing?

I think this is a terrific idea. As I'm sure you found you can get live_timing_state but right now we just return a big contextless dict. It feels like we should create a new Driver object where you can grab all the players with that driver and the relevant live timing for that driver specifically through properties as opposed to manipulating

For your specific use case of detecting when a driver is close to finishing a hotlap, I think it is achievable today with live_timing_state. In the TimingData key there is a dict called Lines that will produce the current timesheet from P1 to P20. Here is an example of a line for VER from this weekend's qualifying session:

I would use a combination of InPit, PitOut, KnockedOut, and Retired to get some candidates for a hot lap. Then I would look at status of Sectors. If Status does not equal zero in the first two sectors and the majority are not all yellow, we are looking at a flying lap. I would surface the player as Status in the final Sector starts to fill.
