[Enhancement]: path for installing 3dsx-binary

What enhancement would you like to see?

Normally, 3dsx programs install themselves to /3ds/<program_name>/<program_name>.3dsx. Not so nimbus, although it creates a /3ds/<program_name>.

It would be fine if nimbus put all its files in a sub-folder nimbus under /3ds.

@DaniElectra is this still relevant? Iirc Nimbus went through some design changes when the plugin was introduced

This might be doable, though we are breaking our previous convention and users who are unaware of the change would be confused at first since the app was moved around. I believe the homebrew menu might account for this and auto-detect the executable within the directory, but don't remember rn if that's the case or not

This is the standard directory structure for the Homebrew menu. That’s why I asked Nimbus to keep it that way.

The brew wiki says otherwise, for what it's worth https://www.3dbrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_Applications, which states that new applications should be just in the root.

Applications are installed by copying the necessary files directly to the 3ds/ folder in the root of the SD card (preferred for new designs), or in a subdirectory of 3ds/, in which case said subfolder must be named identically to its executable

And I checked a few random homebrew apps just now, and many of them just give you only the .3dsx and have you place it wherever, not all of them use the structure you mentioned.

Give then, that it seems more like it's just a loose convention (and one the brew wiki directly states not to use), I don't think there's much cause for us to change how we're already doing things. I'll let @DaniElectra make the final call though

Alright I have now checked this and the homebrew menu does auto-detect the executable within the directory (also proven by code): https://github.com/devkitPro/3ds-hbmenu/blob/5a0110a6e8f790c1b6a621e91ed6c733ebfcefd7/source/menu-entry.c#L328

This would mean that the app would still show up in the same place, and also hides the nimbus folder from the 3ds directory on the launcher. I would be fine with this, but not a priority rn
