We pretty much just set up the game to reflect our midi controller at the gamejam location, so it wasn't really tested against other controllers. Unfortunately that seemingly meant you weren't able to beat the game :( (there isn't a whole lot of additional content in the game).

We added some regular keyboard debug keys as well, if you want to give it another shot 😄 (tuning: q-a, w-s, e-d. notes: x,c,v,b,n)

For the record, the game recognizes:

• Notes 49, 51, 54, 56, 58 (the black keys on the octave just below the middle C), mapping to the keys X, C, V, B, N.
• Note 48 (C one octave below the middle C), mapping to the key Z. It seems unused, as there is no in-game feedback for pressing it.
• CC (AKA Continuous Controllers AKA Control Change) controllers:
  • 74, keys Q/A, for the AM knob
  • 71, keys W/S, for the MIX knob
  • 79, keys E/D, for the WAVE knob

And also these keyboard keys:

• R to reload the game.
• [/] to change the game speed. (Doesn't seem to work.)

It would be helpful to put these on the game's README.

I managed to run it on Linux using Wine 8.15, but no text was displayed (for some unknown reason). Running it under Proton Experimental (from Steam) seems to work fine.

I managed to work around the hard-coded CC mappings by using qpwgraph and QMidiRoute to convert CC input from the MIDI hardware to the controller numbers expected by the game.

With that, I think I encountered (through play) all the game's content, even the cheat on the intro bot. It's a short experiment made during a game jam, and can be played in just a few minutes. Has some potential, it reminded me of Alt Frequencies.

Indeed, recompiling it to Web Assembly and publishing on itch.io (playable in-browser) could be nice. With bonus points for allowing the use of any of the hardware knobs (how about mapping to the three knobs by getting the CC number mod 3), as well as any octave (note number mod 12).
