Project Origin and Attribution

PastureStack is an independent community effort to preserve, audit, and modernize the Rancher 1.6 ecosystem. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Rancher Labs or SUSE.

This repository is derived from the upstream open-source project formerly published at https://github.com/rancher/rancher-ecr-credentials. The original README records that the project was initially contributed by John Engelman of Object Partners. That attribution, the original authors' copyright interests, and the complete Git contributor history are retained.

PastureStack did not create the upstream project and does not claim authorship of work by earlier contributors. PastureStack contributors claim authorship only for changes they make and record in the preserved Git history.

License continuity

  • The root project license remains the existing Apache License 2.0 in LICENSE.
  • PastureStack has not replaced, relicensed, or removed the upstream license.
  • Vendored dependencies remain under their respective licenses. Their license, copyright, author, and notice files must remain with redistributed source and artifacts where required.
  • The vendored AWS SDK includes its own notice material; it must not be removed merely because the root project uses Apache License 2.0.
  • Modified files identify PastureStack maintenance changes. Git history remains the authoritative record of who changed each line and when.

The Apache License does not grant trademark rights. References to Rancher Labs, SUSE, Rancher 1.6, Amazon, AWS, or ECR describe project origin, compatibility, or external services and do not imply sponsorship or endorsement.
