What are common steps to create your own ontology using GFO? #45

Description

@k00ni

There are a few (to some extent) established methodologies available for ontology creation and management, such as:

  • KAKTUS
  • CommonKADS
  • METHONTOLOGY
  • ON-TO-KNOWLEDGE (OTK)
  • DILIGENT
  • UPON
  • eXtreme Design (NeOn project)

Those entries are mentioned in the following paper: Towards a Modern Ontology Development Environment (2020), for instance.

Is there a set of specialized approaches / methods available to build up an ontology using GFO (or one of its parts)?
Is one of the mentioned methodologies suitable in this regard or on the contrary, to avoid because of known issues?

As far as I understood the intentions / approach behind GFO-light and others you want to make GFO more accessible for knowledge engineers and most probably developers too. Because the default curriculum of a developer most likely doesn't include formal logics / formal ontologies to the extend which is required to work with GFO, there is a knowledge gap.
Tutorials and documentation in a more common language (English, but with less formulas :D) seems to be important to lower entry barrier and attract new users.
