Additional context

I'm not sure if I did the Hydra part right: there are more recent jobs in the search results, but they're for 25.11

The system metatdata says nix-env. I don't know what that means, but I currently don't use nix-env. I haven't updated channels because I use a Flakes-based system since I had to install a module that's packaged as a Flake (maybe I could've installed in non-Flake)

I'm trying to install it to get more data about another issue, where the environment variables aren't set

Yeah there's a lot of packages that depend on doctest, so it landed in staging.
But should hopefully land in nixos-unstable and nixos-26.05 in a couple days.

Yeah, about that, it's been a couple of weeks. I don't know enough about what's going on with staging to know why.

It landed in staging-next-26.05, so after this PR it should be fixed for 26.05 at least… #528906

Not sure how to go about unstable since I don't understand the whole process either.
If it would be okay to cherry-pick the changes and make a PR targeting staging-next since this has been causing build failures for two months now.

The fix is now (finally) in both unstable and 26.05.
