🤗 ODD PI 26.4 Objective 3: Community engagement

Motivation + Description

The ODD team’s continuous engagement with community development helps promote adoption of optimal solutions across NASA and beyond and bring lessons from the broader ecosystems back to ODSI. In this objective the team will engage (attend, participate, present) in various communities and events (conferences) to share and learn and report back.

Acceptance Criteria / Sub-tasks

• GeoZarr leadership activities (Max)
• ESIP session coordination and attendance (Aimee)
  • Week of July 6th: coordinate 2 prep sessions: 1 for finalizing the agenda, 1 for rehearsing presentations
  • 2 following weeks: host prep sessions and update session page on website (~3 hours/week)
• DAARWG chair-ing (Aimee, meeting-only participation throughout the PI)
• Pangeo showcase fall 2027 organization (Max, Chuck?)
• Openscapes collaboration (Chuck?)
• CNG preparation (Sid, ?)
• Running the virtual stores co-working group (Aimee, Max)
• Zarr spec committee (Davis)
• Consider attendance at 2026 Open Source Science Data Repositories Meeting (Max)
• Responsible GenAI hackathon (Aimee?)

LOE

• 0.25 FTE - GeoZarr leadership and implementation support (e.g., enabling virtual stores to follow GeoZarr, guidance for NASA DAACs)
• 0.5 FTE - Conferences/hackathons/community participation and organization (ESIP, Responsible GenAI hackathon, Pangeo showcase fall 2027 organization, Openscapes collaboration, CNG preparation)
