Some anime requests in Moonfin do not show all seasons. Moonfin only offers one season, while Seerr correctly shows multiple seasons for the same series.

Solo Leveling

• Moonfin: 1 season with 25 episodes
• Seerr: 2 seasons – Season 1 with 12 episodes, Season 2 with 13 episodes

Hell’s Paradise

• Same type of issue: Seerr shows distinct seasons,
  but Moonfin does not reflect the same season structure.

I found that this issue comes from using TMDB in Moonfin, while Seerr is configured to use TVDB for series and anime, which provides better and more accurate season numbering (and matches how torrents / Sonarr name the releases: Season 1, Season 2, etc.)

Steps to reproduce

1. Configure Seerr to use TVDB as the metadata provider for series/anime.
2. Configure Moonfin with Seerr integration enabled (Moonbase).
3. In Seerr, search for Solo Leveling and Hell’s Paradise, and note the seasons and episode count.
4. In Moonfin, search for the same titles via Seerr integration.
5. Compare how many seasons are available and how episodes are grouped in Moonfin vs Seerr.
6. Observe that Moonfin shows a single season for some anime, while Seerr (TVDB-based) shows multiple seasons.

Moonfin should display the same season structure as Seerr for anime series, especially when Seerr is using TVDB, so that:
Seasons in Moonfin match the seasons visible in Seerr,
Season numbering is consistent with how torrents / Sonarr name the releases (Season 1, Season 2, etc.),

Moonfin doesn't choose your metadata provider... That is done in your Jellyfin settings and local metadata. You need to clean up your library if you want it displayed how you like.

It’s the Seerr integration in Moonfin that gives me these results. I’ve disabled TMDB for my Anime and TV Shows libraries.

This behavior only occurs when I try to add a title via Moonfin’s Seerr integration; otherwise, in my own library the seasons and episodes are displayed correctly.

How does the Seerr integration in Moonfin work?

After reviewing the Moonfin Seerr client code, it looks like TMDB is currently used as the primary identifier for most media flows, especially in seerr_http_client.dart (getMovieDetails(int tmdbId), getTvDetails(int tmdbId), similar/recommendation endpoints, watchlist methods, and getWatchlist() remapping id from tmdbId).

TVDB support exists, since the models already expose both tmdbId and tvdbId in SeerrMedia, SeerrExternalIds, and SeerrMediaInfo, and there is also a dedicated getTvDetailsByTvdb(int tvdbId) method.

However, TVDB appears to be handled as a secondary/special path rather than as a first-class selectable source.

For anime and some TV series, it would be useful to allow choosing which metadata source should be preferred for the series page and related actions.

Possible approaches:

1. Add a Moonfin Seerr setting to choose the preferred TV identifier source (TMDB or TVDB), similar to Seerr’s own behavior where relevant.
2. Keep TMDB as default for movies, but allow TV series/anime to prefer TVDB.
3. Even better, allow the choice per series page when both tmdbId and tvdbId are available.
