can you organize this into a regular Python package?

• with a setup.py that expresses dependencies,
• that has machine-readable version numbers, e.g., semantic versioning,
• that is released on PyPI

I can do this work and submit a pull request. Let me know.

have you considered a more concise package name, like misty, which is available?

unfortunately, the concise name misty is not available in the indices of RubyGems or NPM. the one on NPM is a self-described squatter, so you might be able to force their removal.
