The isolated atoms of most elements are <a href ='https://www.fnal.gov/pub/science/inquiring/questions/colorofatoms.html' target='_blank'>colourless</a> (unless you understand ‘colour’ in a more <a href='https://www.wtamu.edu/~cbaird/sq/2014/01/17/does-an-atom-have-a-color/' target='_blank')>technical</a> sense). Assigning specific colours to atoms according to the CPK system is a convention that helps distinguish the elements visually. The animated atom – created in pure CSS – could be Manganese.
