We can create a new statistic based around the recently added "Level Change" Fight Log Column, which represents whether you're potted or brewed down while attacking. This would only be available for the client player (before merge)
Ideally, you want to be potted at all times, for every single attack. Never brewed down.
This statistic could and should also display "expected damage lost from being brewed down or unpotted"
How should we display/quantify this statistic? Should it just be a simple "potted, neutral, or brewed down" check for each hit, or should it be some kind of numerical score, such that it punishes you more for bolting at 70 range than it does for bolting at 92 range? Maybe a simple tally of, "number of potted attacks vs. total attacks" is simplest?
Design suggestion 1)
Simple "number of potted attacks vs. total attacks" display. This is probably the simplest and easiest to understand
example display: 47/55 (-31.5) => Of your 55 total attacks, you were potted for 47 of them and lost 31.5 eD from being brewed down.
- attack with 112 range (-0) => statistic +1 =
1/1 (0)
- attack with 111 range (-1) => statistic +1 =
2/2 (-0.5)
- attack with 116 str (-2) => statistic +1 =
3/3 (-1.0)
- attack with 99 range (-13) => statistic +0 =
3/4 (-3.4)
- attack with 88 range (-26) => statistic -1
3/5 (-7.6)
Design suggestion 2)
I was thinking a simpler per-attack display would suffice. Perhaps you could have a score which starts at 0, gets -1 to it every time you attack brewed down, +1 every time you attack potted, and +0 every time you attack 'neutral' (not potted, but not brewed down). You'd want this number to remain as high as possible. And if its under 0 ur dog.
- attack with 112 range (-0) => statistic +1 =
+1
- attack with 111 range (-1) => statistic +1 =
+2
- attack with 116 str (-2) => statistic +1 =
+3
- attack with 99 range (-13) => statistic +0 =
+3
- attack with 88 range (-26) => statistic -1
+2
In the end would be displayed as something like +33 (-31.5) to include eD lost from being brewed down.
Design suggestion 3)
Maybe instead we could simply make it a sum of every level under max potted you are. For example, let's say you're on a max main (potted str=118, potted range = 112).
- attack with 112 range (-0) => statistic =
0
- attack with 111 range (-1) => statistic =
-1
- attack with 116 str (-2) => statistic =
-3
- attack with 99 range (-13) => statistic =
-16
- attack with 88 range (-26) => statistic =
-42
In the end would be displayed as something like -376 (-31.5) to include eD lost from being brewed down.
In a perfect fight where you always attack 100% potted, this statistic would remain at 0. Realistically, it would sit somewhere under 0 since you'd attack a bit at 109-111 range or 115-117 str. We could potentially make these hits count as 0 if you're 3 levels below potted or higher (e.g 109-112 range & 115-118str), and only reduce from this count if you're over 3 levels below potted.
