I can get some more numbers for this as well. I'll ask Boris estimates on travel and hosting for the ETH1.x Meetings and add that to the budget.

The numbers are pretty consistent with what the EF plans to distribute ecosystem wide for a year. So 25 million USD for 1.5* the time scale, plus room to account for the Ebb and Flow of the market is a pretty fair estimation.

From the conversations I have had so far that amount is reasonable for a development initiative of the scale of Eth1.X. I'll look for more outside validation from others in the community on this as well.

EF quoted a top-line number but no details, no planned use or allocation of funds, and no details on ho that number was calculated. We must be better than this.

This is a "top down" calculation. Personally I'd prefer a "bottom up" calculation listing specific initiatives and uses of funds. This is the difference between NASA spending $1bn to build a rocket and SpaceX doing it for orders of magnitude less ;)
