This is a bit tricky for multiple formats. It's easy enough to link to the http-variant, but that doesn't translate well in PDF. Might just ignore the PDF bit, but then what about single-page variants versus multi-page? Could possibly just pick one.

This is definitely not trivial for the PDF, as rst2pdf isn't too good at this. More experimentation is needed. See also --real-footnotes and --inline-footnotes and .. target-notes::
