Doesn't work on Niri

I've tried your program on Niri but it doesn't work, even though Niri supports the protocol and mpv works just fine with it. Using swayidle btw.

log looks totally fine to me... looking at Niri's recent commits, seems like they implemented the keyboard-shortcuts-inhibit protocol 3 weeks ago, maybe something went wrong there? (niri-wm/niri#630)

could you take this issue up with them or maybe test vigiland in a Niri build from before that commit to see if we can rule it out or not?

The latest version is before this commit, so it shouldn't be the problem. I'll try contacting the devs.

Edit: the dev says the problem is that it doesn't show the surface, see https://wayland.app/protocols/idle-inhibit-unstable-v1#zwp_idle_inhibitor_v1. A proper solution would be implementing some visible surface, eg. 1px on the screen on a overlay. Also, he says you can call the freedesktop inhibit over dbus, so it doesn't have to be graphical.

Does this work on Niri yet? Or should I just use Dbus protocol, eg org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver?

haven't found the motivation to work on this tbh... feel free to test again on Niri & post an update here, I do have a little more free time these days so who knows :p

regarding DBus: looking at the source code I'm fairly certain Niri supports org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver
