That would actually make sense, but as of now, it looks more like a feature for v.2 of the app.
Let me think about it more, and I'll probably start working on it somewhere soon

I don't think this will work. Tags are one-dimensional by their nature. If you want to add a category you create a tag with this category's name.

The only way I can see this work is using a dirty tricks like : as a entry in a tag name, and using registry as a persistence db (which is not quite the best option imo)

But this will not allow to work for hierarchy in explorer, still. Just pure visual fluff in UI of the InTag app

And you have to fend somehow duplicate names on different levels

Might be missing smth, but I think it might work, it's just that you'll have electronics:apple fruit:apple tags. Does not really look nice, but will probably work

Or constraint based on the parent's tag, might be... Not sure. Wanky anyways. Unless I see interest in that specific feature - don't think I'll have a deeper look. Still leaving open just in case, though.

I don't understand enough about the workings and limitations, just wanted to chime in.

Not sure if it's the same feature, but I would be interested to see nested tags. Or like tag groups. I know but it would be cool to be able to organize my tags in group/folders/... to quickly maybe add multiple tags to an item.
We could have them organized in intag like the OP is looking for, and at least I would be happy if intag just added all tags the deepest tag is nested under.

I'm not good with naming tags consistently because I create a lot of different ones, and a grouped overview would help me greatly staying organized better.

And thank you so much for your work here, I have been looking for a simple program like this for a while. :)

@github1328 it feels like that optimal solution for that would be to to combine tag and something else to identify a group of tags, like a comment maybe... But that would still require toggling tags one-by-one.

I'll see what I can do with the tree tags, but still, no promises, as it's a significant complication
