I am planning to develop pass-through goggles. I am a university student majoring in Statistics, currently working at a dementia care center for the elderly in South Korea. Our center is quite spacious, covering approximately 660 square meters, and accommodates over 50 elderly individuals with dementia.

These seniors often forget how to navigate within the center, such as losing their way to the restroom. To assist them, I plan to modify an affordable, smartphone-based VR headset by attaching a depth camera and an LCD panel, creating an AR-like feature that displays a guiding path to their destination. In this process, I would like to implement an eye-tracking feature so that the users can easily select their destination options.

Ultimately, the goal of this project is to provide a reliable navigational guide for the elderly and people with disabilities who experience cognitive decline to the point where they struggle to find their way independently.

I would be more than happy to share my progress and any outcomes as the project advances.
