Bug: trying to do anything with the fire red/leaf green re-release freezes jksv

Describe the bug:

when doing anything with the pokemon fire red/leaf green re-release jksv freezes

Steps needed to reproduce:

just try to do anything with the frlg re-releases in jksv

Expected behavior:

being able to extract the save file

What happens instead:

jksv freezes

Log file output:

my log file is blank

so i found a way around this its by highlighting the game and press x and open it in file mode then making a new directory and saving the .sav file to that new directory and doing the steps backwards to put the files back into the game

how did you do it, mine is not letting me overwrite the file

on the left highlight the dot then move to the right box and copy the file over to the left box but make sure to delete the file in the left box first.

highlighting the dot is selecting the folder that the save is in but if you highlight the sav file you are telling jksv that the sav file is a directory aka folder when its a file not a folder.

I'm Sorry but I'm still trying to figure this out. by any chance is there a visual for it? Sorry again.

Instead of pressing A, you press X here:

Open in file mode:

Select the save:

Copy:

This will place the save file in the root of your SD card. You can then edit it as usual. Once you're done, repeat the process to restore it
Use ZL/ZR to change

Has anybody been able to delete the game from the system files entirely? No way to do that without it freezing it seems, even via file mode. The game still appears in the saves. I can't even blacklist the title, that freezes the console too. Hopefully this is fixed in the next update of JKSV.

Edit: if anybody is interested, I found a workaround to delete the save entirely: run MTP via DBI, go to the Saves drive, then Uninstalled Game, you'll see one game with a '?', that's Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen, delete the folder, the game/save will be gone from the JKSV save screen.

i just tried to delete the save via open file mode then i launched the game and my save is gone so what you said is not true

What I meant is that it still appears in JSKV despite the fact that I even had the game uninstalled.

Yes I could also delete my save via open file mode, but it didn't matter, the game was still appearing in JKSV, Checkpoint, etc. Kind of a harmless detail but my OCD could not tolerate that :p.

uninstalling the game does not delete the save file thats a separate option in the switch settings this also applies to all other switch games...

I know, that's what JKSV is for but the choosing the option to delete the save made the Switch freeze. Hence the workaround with DBI.

Found this fork that works: https://github.com/santacrab2/JKSV/releases/tag/26.03.02

It should work until the main repo updates.
