The gig-o-matic is a great tool, but I have found that it sends a lot of email. There are some ways to control that when editing or creating a gig (I.e. “email members…” check box), but updates go to everyone or no one.
I would like to propose an option to email only those who have responded Yes, Maybe or Don’t know.
At the same time, it would be nice to force the gig creator to make a choice. At least once I have moved through too quickly (or hit return by accident) and sent emails to everyone needlessly.
Instead of the checkbox I propose a set of radio buttons with NO default - so when editing a gig, the choices would be:
- Email all members
- Email interested members (Yes, Maybe or Don’t know)
- No email
For new gigs, the middle option doesn’t apply. But using radio buttons and making this a “required” field would prevent accidentally notifying everyone (or accidentally NOT notifying).
This has the potential to reduce the amount of “extra” email sent. Thanks!
