https://videoproof.typenetwork.com redirects to http://videoproof.graphicore.de but that now hosts the new typeroof app, not the legacy videoproof app; and https://typetools.typenetwork.com redirects to https://variable-type-tools.appspot.com that does host the legacy typetools app.

I think since there are 3 apps, there should be 3 URLs, videoproof.typenetwork.com and typetools.typenetwork.com and newly typeroof.typenetwork.com, and and 3 project repos; then the first 2 should be deprecated, their github repos issues that are still relevant migrated to the new 3rd one, then archived using the github archive feature.

At which point in time would "legacy videoproof" still apply? Is this old enough: https://videoproof.graphicore.de/legacy.php or should we go further back?

Because, I could put that "legacy" version to the homepage of https://videoproof.graphicore.de and put the newer TypeRoof version to some typeroof.domain.tld

Regarding anything at sub.typenetwork.com DNS settings seem to be not an option FontBureau/variable-type-tools#85 (comment) but @sannorozco can make the server redirect.

EXCELLENT. Then, fontbureau.github.io/videoproof would be an ideal final URL for the subdomains to redirect to, imo :)

Trying to formulate a clear goal for this:

https://videoproof.typenetwork.com/ is the legacy videoproof URL
https://typetools.typenetwork.com/ is the legacy variable-type-tools URL

We are looking to restore both of the apps that can be reached via these URLs to a state that is good for archival use, i.e. close to the original yet in a working condition.

• For Videoproof this means a state before the comment box was added.
• For TypeTools this means a state where AmstelVar and the "Truevalues" are available and working.

TypeRoof, the amalgamation of Videoproof and TypeTools, will move forward under a new location. Possibly just:
https://FontBureau.github.io/typeroof.

The legacy apps will inform about the new TypeRoof with a note and a link.

The legacy apps are both dependent on PHP on the server, that's why they are currently hosted via googles app-engine (appspot.com), for free, at:

https://variable-type-tools.appspot.com
https://videoproof.appspot.com

The appspot domains will stay available regardless of what we do.

For *.typenetwork.com there are two options, redirects or direct DNS entries to the apps. Redirects are OK in my opinion especially because it's much easier to configure. But I'd be available to help with DNS configuration from the app-engine side, if this is desired.

• TypeRoof needs a new location, and likely a new repository name, if served from github.io!
• http://videoproof.graphicore.de: should redirect the new TypeRoof location
• There's an app-engine https://varla-varfo.appspot.com which is currently used to serve videoproof, shut this down
